People of PC

A few years ago I was inspired by photographer Brandon Stanton. He is the creator of a project called “Humans of New York”. He started by photographing portraits of New Yorkers, which has now blossomed into a journey where he has traveled all over the world and taken portraits. He accompanies each image with a quote from the pictured person. After following his work I was inspired to try a similar project here Phoenix College. There is such a diverse student body and I wanted to explore the idea that we all come from unique places and have different stories and yet somehow we all ended up here. Currently, we are all students pursuing an education, eventually moving on to other places but right now we are a community that can support each other’s goals.  My intention with this series is to represent a wide range of people, interview them, and show individuality yet at the same time illustrate how we are all connected. In turn, forming this community where we can all come together and support each other outside of the classroom. I hope by viewing this series and reading the quotes you can gain a better understanding of the variety of experiences our students share, and ideally relate to at least one of these students. Additionally, I hope you feel like you’re a part of the Phoenix College community now. I admire these students for their bravery of being open and honest for everyone to see.
